Getting to Tilburg University
It may be noted that the Dutch name for Tilburg University is Universiteit van Tilburg
(abbreviation UvT) and the Dutch word for university is universiteit. The former Dutch name of Tilburg University is Katholieke Universiteit Brabant (abbreviation KUB).
The abbreviations UvT and KUB, as well as universiteit are often used on signposts.
- By train:
By slow train (in Dutch: stoptrein) from Tilburg Railway Station to Tilburg West Railway Station. (Note that Tilburg West Railway Station is depicted in the upper right corner of the map of the campus). From there it's only a five minute walk to the university.
- By bus:
Tilburg University can be reached by taking bus number 2 or 3.
You should get off at the bus stop at the corner of Prof. Cobbenhagenlaan and Hogeschoollaan.
- By bicycle
Tilburg is small enough to get around by bicycle, and it may be easier to reach the
University (especially from the outlying hotels) by bicycle.
They can be rented cheaply from the bicycle
shop underneath Tilburg Train Station; phone: (013) 543.6194 (€ 7.30 per day, deposit € 50, ID required).
There is a separate bicycle path directly from the center to the University.
- By Taxi
There is a taxi stand at Tilburg Railway Station (but not at Railway Station Tilburg West);
phone: (013) 583.8383.
If you take a taxi, be sure to tell the driver you do not want to go to the main entrance of the University (which is
further from the Conference and will cost you about € 5 extra). Ask the driver to take you to the corner of
Hogeschoollaan and Prof. Verbernelaan. (Hoek Hogeschoollaan Prof. Verbernelaan)
